Kimple's photo contest has recently undergone numerous updates in order to offer our customers the most advanced application in terms of functionality and customisation. The game consists of two steps: you can configure the media upload page and the photo gallery. Be careful, in the "customisation" stage, do not delete these pages, they will be crucial for the success of your operation.

How do I import photos?

The "upload media" page is the page that will allow entrants to import your photos for the photo contest. Kimple now allows you to import photos from a computer or a phone.

From the back office, by clicking on the edit icon, you can choose the number of photos that the participant should/can upload, customise the image of the upload button graphically.

When uploading their photo, each entrant will be able to add a title and description and choose the category by filling in the text field visible on the "Upload media" page.

There is also an option to restrict participation to the entry form. By activating this option, all participants who wish to send a photo will have to fill in the entry form.

You can also add a decorative photo frame for each photo posted by your participants, an additional graphic option that ensures a unique photo contest in the image of your brand.

How the photos will be displayed.

The photo gallery is the page where the photos suggested by the entrants will appear. We have updated the features of the application to give you more comfort in customising and more options in configuring the competition.

The editing menu offers different fields of intervention to configure your photo contest application: a general tab, a "Category management" tab, a "Vote management" tab and a "Text editing" tab. You can go very far in the configuration of the application.

The general tab offers you several options for framing the general context of the photo contest :

- The possibility to manage the size of the photos (small, medium and large)

- Management of the number of photos displayed per page (in web and mobile versions)

- The possibility to activate comments on each photo

- Management of filters to rank photos (either the most popular in terms of votes or the most recent)

- Display of votes on photos (either on mouse-over or directly on the photo)

- The possibility to display the name of the author of the photo

- The activation of an advanced search engine to find a particular photo

- The activation of a "My photos" filter that allows each participant to find his or her personal photo(s)

- The activation of a message above the vote button. Ex: Vote for this person by clicking on the like button.

How do I set up categories ?

You can set up categories in your photo contest.

You have to define your categories beforehand in the category edition.

You can choose to ask for which category the person is competing for on the form or by photo.

As part of a choice on the form, add a new field "Categories for photo gallery".

Previously defined categories will move up to this field.

Or display it only on the upload, if the person can put several photos they can choose a category per photo.

On the photo gallery, entrants will be able to make filters on the category

How to configure your voting system?

Better manage the voting options of the participants, that's what we required. From now on, you can configure the management of votes on several criteria:

- Customise the type of vote (normal, Facebook, by category).

- Limit votes by frequency (single, daily, weekly, by photo).

- Restrict votes only to participants who have filled in the game form.

- Activate the restriction of voting by IP address.

New!

You can now choose the image of the like button.

Please note that once the operation is online, the management of the votes cannot be modified

In order to avoid cheating, we strongly advise you to make all participants go through the form in order to identify them.

How can I manage all the labels of my contest?

Kimple wanted to offer maximum flexibility to our customers to optimise the personalisation of their photo contest. From now on, each customer is able to personalise each label of the photo contest thanks to a text editor integrated in the configuration menu of the photo gallery. Several levels of text can therefore be edited and modified before or during the game for an even greater degree of customisation. Here is the list of all the labels you will be able to modify :

- the message in the search bar of the photo gallery

- the filter selection message

- The default filter label called "Most recent".

- The default filter label called "Most popular

- The default filter label called "My Photos

- The authentication message required for the "My Photos" filter when the form is mandatory

- The word "Vote

- The word "Votes

- The heading "Next photo".

- The heading "Previous photo".

- The error message informing of a defect when sending a participant's photo (size problem etc.)

- The alert message via the search engine when a photo is not recognised in the database

- A confirmation message when a vote is successfully registered

- The alert message when an error has occurred during a participant's vote

- The information message highlighting the restriction of the form to participate

- The alert message when the maximum level of voting is reached on a photo according to your voting conditions

- The text above the vote button

How do I moderate the photos in my game?

You have the possibility to activate or not the moderation of your photos. To do this, click on the drop-down arrow in the "Customisation" tab. In the top right-hand corner, you will find three icons. Click on the "Operation configuration" icon.

A configuration pop-up invites you to check the "Enable moderation" box. By activating photo moderation, each photo sent from the competition will be subject to validation by you in the back office.

To validate the photos, from your dashboard, click on the "Operation statistics" button. Then click on the "Photo Administration" tab. This gives you access to the photos awaiting validation: to validate a photo, click on the "Accept" button. To ban a photo from the competition, click on the "Refuse" button. At any time, you can export all the photo media by clicking on the "Export photos" button, which will allow you to recover a file classified and ordered according to the status of the photos moderated in your competition.
