How do I set up the photo contest game?

The photo contest on Kimple is a feature that allows participants to submit a photo related to a specific theme. Once their photo is submitted through a form, it can be displayed in a public gallery. Depending on the selected settings, visitors can vote for their favorite photos. It’s an easy-to-set-up feature, ideal for driving engagement, collecting user-generated content, and energizing a community. The contest is fully customizable using the platform’s editor.

Click the “Create a Campaign” button to access our game catalog and select the photo contest game.

You’ll first need to set the name of your campaign, the language, the publication dates, the description, and the time zone before you can access your game’s course.

a) Configuring the Photo Import Form

With Kimple, you’ll be able to customize the look and feel of every element of your photo contest. By logging in through the interface and going to your customization area, you can edit the contest page. From the side menu on the right, you can access the various configuration options.

The “Import Photo” page allows participants to submit their photos for the contest. By default, a form is displayed with the following fields:

This form is optional and can be customized. You can add or remove fields just like in a standard form by following this guide.

On this page, a preview element for the uploaded photo allows participants to preview their upload. This element can be customized by adding a default image.

b) General Settings for the Photo Gallery

Displaying the gallery page in the course is optional. It can be removed if you only want to collect images.

The “Photo Gallery” page offers a comprehensive, automated solution for presenting submissions in a dynamic and engaging way. It allows visitors to easily browse through the images, explore different categories, and vote for their favorite photos via an intuitive and interactive interface.

In the configuration tab on the right, you can start by setting the default display order for the photos: either by submission date (most recent first) or by popularity (most voted).

You can then choose to show or hide various pieces of information beneath each thumbnail, such as the photo's title, the author's name, and the category to which it belongs. This allows you to customize the appearance to suit your needs and enhance the user experience.

The “photo title” and “category” data are entered by the participant via the photo import form. The “category” field must be configured in advance in order to provide suggestions to participants.

Depending on your goals, you can populate the photo gallery with images you’ve imported yourself. This helps prevent a disappointing experience for first-time visitors to the gallery.

You can thus enhance the gallery with manually imported photos. The photo’s author is a field that must be filled in when importing images into the gallery (see the game creator’s photo settings in the gallery).

To make searching and sorting easier, you can enable a category filter that allows visitors to select only the themes that interest them. A text search bar is also available, allowing you to quickly find a photo using keywords or the author’s name.

As for the voting system, you can configure the rules in detail: set the total number of votes allocated to each participant, choose whether voting is restricted to participants only or open to the public, and determine the allowed frequency (per day, per week, or for the entire duration of the event). You can also enable the display of the number of votes per photo. These options ensure a fair voting process tailored to the nature and objectives of your event.

Finally, to ensure the quality of published contributions, you can enable gallery moderation. This feature allows you to manually approve each photo before it goes live, thereby preventing inappropriate or off-topic content and ensuring a polished presentation that meets your expectations.

You can moderate the visibility of photos uploaded to the gallery.

To do this, click on the “Moderation” menu to access the dedicated section, where you'll find all the photos that have been added.

You'll find various details about the photos, including their status, the image itself, the participant's email address, the number of votes received, and the import date.

You can choose to make photos visible or hidden in the gallery.
